A Year Two Political Science Student Shines at Bioscience Awards, Honored for Selfless Service
The Faculty of Social Sciences of the UDS community is abuzz with another excitement as Mr. Sadiq Azindow Alhassan, one of its own student from the Department of Political Science has been recognized for outstanding contributions to student welfare. Mr. Sadiq Azindow Alhassan dedicated and compassionate student leader, has been honoured with two prestigious awards: Central SRC Student Politician of the Year and Most Influential Student of the Year by the National Association of Bioscience Students of the UDS.
The awards are a testament to Sadiq's tireless efforts to support fellow students in need. During a recent community stay, Sadiq demonstrated remarkable kindness and selflessness. When a student from the Food and Nutrition department, who was asthmatic, collapsed and required an inhaler, he sprang into action, volunteering to fetch the medication and even securing assistance from a brother who is a philanthropist.
Another notable instance of Sadiq's compassion was when a student from Fomena suffered a swollen leg and faced challenges in accessing treatment due to financial constraints. He rallied support from well-wishers, ensuring the student received necessary medical attention both at the hospital and locally. Sadiq even stayed with the student until she recovered and escorted her home.
These acts of kindness did not go unnoticed. Senior lecturers, including Prof. Haleem, Dr. Hafiz, and Dr. Gadafi, took notice of [Student's Name]'s dedication and offered support. Prof. Haleem even visited the community and provided a cash to aid in the student's treatment.

At the Bioscience Awards and Handing Over ceremony, Sadiq was recognized for his outstanding contributions, receiving awards and a tabletop fridge as the Most Influential Student of the Year. The National Association of Bioscience Students also acknowledged Sadiq's role in supporting students with expired health insurance, helping them secure renewals.
The association's leadership has promised to continue supporting students in need, including assisting those without health insurance cards. This gesture is a testament to the impact Sadiq's selfless service has had on the university community.
The Faculty and Department congratulates Sadiq on these well-deserved honours and celebrates his commitment to serving others. Sadiq's actions embody the university's values of compassion, empathy, and service to humanity.
