The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), University for Development Studies (UDS) Branch, has showered glowing tributes on the UDS Men’s Football Team for clinching the ultimate glory at the 2025 FISU University World Cup in Dalian, China.

In a message of celebration, GAUA-UDS praised the players for their resilience and determination, describing their journey as a story of “focus, and hard work.” The Association noted that the team’s triumph, despite limited national attention and stiff competition, was a testament to the fighting spirit and ambition of UDS as an institution.

“The victory of the Team is a reflection of our collective strength and ambition as a University that opens its doors to people of all backgrounds,” the statement read. “It is a victory of will, and shows that with a strong will, we can conquer the world and tame skies.”

GAUA-UDS also extended appreciation to the players, the technical bench, university management, and the UDS Sports Advisory Committee for their invaluable roles in securing the historic win. The Association likened the feat to “sweet grapes from a well-deserved victory,” and pledged continuous support for the team in future competitions.

“Thank you for making the world sing the praises of UDS to the heavens,” the message concluded, adding a resounding: “From all of us in GAUA-UDS, we say congratulations on your victory!”

The UDS Men’s Football Team’s triumph has not only made history but has also etched the University’s name on the global sporting map, igniting a new wave of pride across the UDS community.
