Prof. Edmund Muonir Der Re-Elected to the UDS Governing Council as Convocation Representative (Professorial)
Professor Edmund Muonir Der has been re-elected to serve a second term as the Convocation Representative – Professorial Category – on the Governing Council of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in the election that took place on Tuesday, July 21, 2025 across all UDS Campuses.
Prof. Der, a seasoned academic and dedicated member of the UDS community, had a strong support across all campuses including Tamale Campus, Nyankpala Campus, City Campus and Central Administration, as well as Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
Running unopposed, Prof. Der was overwhelmingly reaffirmed with 99.1% of the total votes by members of convocation with only 0.9% voting against his re-election. This result reflects strong confidence in his leadership and representation on the University’s highest decision-making body.
On campus basis, Prof. Der garnered 53 votes out of 55 votes cast at the Central Administration Block and all 98 votes on Tamale Campus. On the Nyankpala Campus, he swept all 102 votes cast and 39 out of 40 votes on City Campus. Finally, at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Prof. Der got all the 21 votes cast to his favour.
His re-election ensures continuity in representation and offers an opportunity to consolidate gains made during his first term on the Governing Council.
