The University for Development Studies (UDS) Students’ Parliament has chalked yet another milestone after winning the 2025 Commonwealth Day essay competition, a prestigious national award, which they presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, during a brief ceremony in his office.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the leaders of the Students’ Parliament expressed gratitude to the University’s Management for creating a supportive environment that contributed to their success.

According to them, the latest award was the result of “discipline, dedication and adequate preparation.” They added, “We are deeply grateful to the Vice-Chancellor and staff of the University for their continuous guidance and support. This achievement belongs to the entire UDS community.”
Receiving the award, a visibly excited Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-Hassan, warmly congratulated the students for bringing honour to the University.
“This award adds to the growing list of recognitions UDS has received in recent times,” he stated. “It shows clearly that the University is gaining respect and visibility both nationally and globally.”

Prof. Al-Hassan praised the students for their hard work and commitment to excellence, describing their achievement as a reflection of the University’s rising profile. He further encouraged them to remain focused and continue striving for greater heights.
“Do not rest on your oars,” he urged. “Work even harder to win more laurels for yourselves and for the University. UDS believes in you, and we are proud of what you have accomplished.”
The delegation later posed for photographs with the Vice-Chancellor, marking another proud moment in UDS’s growing reputation for excellence and student leadership.
