The University for Development Studies (UDS) has once again distinguished itself on the national stage, emerging as the Best Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Compliant Institution in the Tertiary Institutions Category at the 2025 Annual Internal Audit Conference organized by the Internal Audit Agency of Ghana.

The two-day conference, held from November 2–3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, brought together audit professionals, institutional leaders, and policymakers under the theme: “Resetting the Ghanaian Economy: The Role of the Internal Auditor.”

UDS’ recognition underscores the University’s unwavering commitment to good governance, transparency, accountability, and the effective management of institutional risks. The award is also a testament to the University’s consistent efforts to strengthen its internal control systems and promote a culture of compliance across all operational areas.

Receiving the award on behalf of the University, the Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Abukari Abdulai, expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Audit Committee, Management of UDS, the Internal Audit Directorate, and the entire University community for their continuous support.

“This achievement is not mine alone; it is the result of a collective commitment to institutional integrity and operational excellence. I dedicate this award to the Vice-Chancellor, the Audit Committee, Management, my hardworking team at the Internal Audit Directorate, and every member of the UDS community. Their continuous support made this success possible,” Mr. Abdulai said.

The award further positions UDS as a benchmark institution in Ghana’s tertiary education sector for the effective implementation of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks. It highlights the University’s proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in pursuit of its mission of academic excellence, innovation, and community impact.

The Annual Internal Audit Conference serves as a platform for audit professionals and institutional leaders to share knowledge and best practices aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in both public and private sector institutions.
